The PLP government launched a wave of infrastructure upgrades to improve transportation and quality of life. In Nassau, critical roadworks were completed – notably the Village Road Improvement Project finished in March 2023.
This $6 million overhaul reconstructed nearly a mile of roadway, installed new water mains and drainage, added turning lanes and modern traffic signals, and alleviated chronic congestion around Village Road.
Roadworks are underway in Exuma, Eleuthera, Cat Island, Abaco, and Long Island.
Airport upgrades are also in progress on many of the Family Islands. Eventually, the Renaissance Programme is set to transform 14 airports throughout the Family Islands.
The million-dollar Joe Farrington Road Water Project will improve water pressure and supply for the eastern end of New Providence, and multiple large scale water improvement projects are happening in the Family Islands.
